Scholarships For Entry To Year 6 In 2011 – Walford
Introduction: Year 6 is the entry year to the Middle School at Walford incorporating the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (Year 6 to 10). Walford has joined a small number of independent schools in Australia which conduct the Primary Scholarship Program (PSP) scholarship examinations administered by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Scholarships as detailed below will be awarded on results obtained in this examination.
Awards Conditions: Candidates must be studying at Year 5 level in 2010. They may be studying at Walford School or at any other school. The scholarships are awarded on the understanding that the recipient will finish her secondary education at Walford. The continuation of the scholarship each year is subject to the recipient making excellent academic progress, displaying conduct of a high standard and contributing to the life of the school through participation in cocurricular activities and sport.
Examination Information: The examination will be held on Saturday 13 February 2010 starting at 8.45 am. Candidates are asked to assemble in the foyer of the Helen Reid Hall by 8.30 am (entrance from Fashoda Street). The examination will conclude at approximately 11.45 am and parents should plan to meet their daughters in the foyer of the Helen Reid Hall at that time.
Application Procedure: Applications can be made online electronically direct to ACER or a Registration Form can be obtained from the Admissions Office at Walford. Telephone 8373 4062 or email admissions@walford.sa.edu.au. An entrance fee of A$75.00 must accompany each application form. Cheques are to be made payable to Walford Anglican School for Girls. The Candidate’s Registration Form must be returned to the Director of Admissions, Ms Libby Emery, at Walford School. Any candidate wishing to enter for scholarships at more than one school must fill in application forms provided by each of the schools concerned.
Closing Date: Entries close at 5.00pm on FRIDAY 15 January 2010.
Registration: ACER imposes a surcharge of A$120.00 on LATE APPLICATIONS. This is in addition to the application fee and is applicable for each school to which an application is made.
Results: It is anticipated that schools will receive the results of the examination in late February. Schools will be permitted to contact families with offers of scholarships after Monday 1 March 2010. Walford will be in touch with you shortly thereafter.
