ADMISSION TO PREPARATORY COURSE IN RUSSIAN
The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad under agreements with Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Moscow, St. Petersburg State University, St. Petersburg, Moscow State Automobile and Road Construction Institute (State Technical University), Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University), Moscow Aviation Institute, Vladimir Medical University, and Stankin Moscow State Technological University is conducting a 10-month ‘Preparatory Course in Russian’ at its campus in Hyderabad (India). This course is compulsory for all Indian nationals who wish to be admitted to any academic programme (medical, engineering, etc) offered by Russian universities.
Under the agreement with the above institutions, students who complete their ‘Preparatory Course in Russian Language’ with grades ‘Good’ (50-70%) or ‘Excellent’ (70% and above) from EFL University become eligible for admission to the various degree programmes. The minimum eligibility for joining this 10-month course is XII std or equivalent.
Application forms can be obtained on payment of Rs. 500/- through Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Coordinator, Preparatory Course in Russian, EFL University’, payable at Hyderabad. The application can also be downloaded from the University website www.efluniversity.ac.in and be sent along with the DD to The Registrar, EFL University, Hyderabad 500 007.

1. PEOPLES’ FRIENDSHIP UNIVERSITY OF RUSSIA
The students after completing the studies at EFL University and subject to passing the examination with a grade “Good” or “Excellent” will be admitted to the main faculty of PFUR in accordance with the speciality selected by the student; The basis for studying at PFUR will be the signing of individual contracts between PFUR and students of EFL University on the terms and conditions to be laid down in the text of the contract and the protocol to be signed by the two sides annually;
Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia was established in 1960 and till 1992 was called Peoples’ Friendship University named after Lumumba. A lot has changed at the University since those times, including its name. The number of schools and branches of study has increased and a two-level education system has been introduced (i.e. Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree Programmes).
It is a state University subsidized by the Government of the Russian Federation, occupying the 3rd rating among classical universities in this country and a leading position in training of international students (out of total 23000 students - 4000 international students from 130 countries). The academic staff consists of 1900 lectures and professors (1300 Ph.d. and D.Sc. holders).
Since 1988 the University has introduced at its 10 Faculties (University Colleges) a twolevel system of higher education training (Bachelor-Master) This system is applied to the majority of 52 offered major courses. Graduates of some of the courses are not awarded with Bachelor Degree, but they receive the State Diploma of a Specialist in a corresponding field after 5 years and after 6 years (medicine) of study. The duration of Bachelor course training is 4 years (excluding one year of foundation training at the Preliminary Faculty).
Successful graduates of Bachelor courses are awarded with the State Diploma and academic degree of Bachelor of Science/Arts. The graduates of Bachelor courses have the right to enter Master courses with the duration of training of 2 years. On completion of training the graduates of Master courses are awarded with the State Diploma and academic degree of Master of Science/Arts.
Medical graduates with major «Medicine» (after 6 years of study exclusive of one year of foundation training at Preliminary Faculty) receive the State Diploma of a general practitioner and awarded with the academic degree of Medical Doctor (M.D.). Medical graduates with major «Dentistry» (after 5 years of study exclusive of one year of foundation training at Preliminary Faculty) receive the State Diploma and awarded with the academic degree of Master of Science in Dentistry (M.Sc.Dent.). Graduates with the major «Pharmacy» (after 5 years of study exclusive of one year of foundation training at Preliminary Faculty) receive the State Diploma and awarded with the academic degree of Master of Science in Pharmacy (M.Sc.Pharm.).
The graduates of Agriculture Faculty with major «Veterinary medicine» (after 5 years of training exclusive of one year of foundation training at Preliminary Faculty) receive the State Diploma of Specialist in Veterinary Medicine.
The graduates of Faculty of Sciences with major «Radiophysics and Electronics» (after 5 years of study exclusive of one year of foundation training at Preliminary Faculty) receive the State Diploma of Specialist in the field of radiophysics and electronics.
The graduates of Engineering Faculty with major «Industrial Economics and Management» (after 5 years of study exclusive of one year of training at Preliminary Faculty) receive the State Diploma of Economist. Besides that, the Engineering Faculty performs training of specialists while the graduates (after 5 years of study exclusive of one year of foundation training at Preliminary Faculty) apart from Bachelor Degree receive the State Diploma of Engineer (D.Eng. in Construction, Technology etc.)
Graduates of all courses may take additional exam in Russian (or Foreign Language) in order to obtain the Diploma of Interpreter.
CONTRACT
Foreign citizens, admitted to the University have to sign the Individual Contract. The Contract stipulates the cost of tuition, accommodation and medical care. The Contract defines the obligations of both parties: the Student and the University. According to the Contract University provides students with medical care which costs $ 200 per person per year, library & sporting facilities, and other services available at the University. Hostel accommodation is offered according to comfort categories and to be paid on special tariff. Undergraduate students’ registration fee rate is $ 100 covering contract registration, consultancy, correspondence and inscription procedure costs.
Transport expenses to Moscow and back home after graduation to be covered by students or their sponsors.

Availability of Hostel Rooms:
The hostels are situated in 5-storey and 16-storey buildings offering double and triple bedded self-contained rooms costing from USD 750 to 2500 per year including water and electricity expenses, furniture, cooking and washing facilities. The rooms have connections to the internet, satellite TV and telephone.
Monthly expenditure on food etc:
Students are advised to have USD 300-350 per month in order to meet the cost of meals, transport, clothes, private needs, etc.

2. ST.PETERSBURG STATE UNIVERSITY
For the academic year 2008-2009 SPSU authorises the EFL University to conduct the preparatory course for approximately 150 students who will on the completion of the course will study at different departments of SPSU accordingto the agreement that lays down the fees to be charged beginning from Preparatory Course to the final year of the subject of specialisation and other aspects between the students and SPSU.
St. Petersburg State University is the oldest university in Russia, founded as it was by Emperor Peter the Great in 1724.

3. MOSCOW AUTOMOBILE AND ROAD CONSTRUCTION INSTITUTE
(STATE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY)
The students sucessfuly completing the preuniversity training will be given a certificate that will guarantee them admission to the subject of their speciality at MADI (STU) without any examination. However, r MADI (STU) eserves the right to conduct a test for EFL-U students in Russian Language and other subjects relevant to their future specialisation.
The Moscow Automobile And Road Construction Institute (State Technical University) MADI (STU) was founded in 1930. It earned the status of the Technical University in 1992. The formal name of the university was changed in 2001 to “State Technical University - MADI”.
The MADI (State Technical University) is one of the largest higher education institutions in Russia and the leading scientific and methodical center on training students for diplomas in engineering, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

General Information about Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University)
Moscow Power Engineering Institute (Technical University) - MPEI - was founded in 1930. It is now the largest Russian Power Engineering University and scientific center, one of the main universities in Russia in the field of Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Computers Science. MPEI today is a unity of modern educational and scientific laboratories, cabinets and lecture halls with modern equipment, installations, control and measuring systems and technical means of education. The MPEI has the official status of Technical University and is a Member of International Association of Universities. In accordance with official rating of the Ministry of Education of Russian Federation the MPEI holds one of the leading places in the list of all technical universities of Russia.

5. MOSCOW AVIATION INSTITUTE
Moscow University of Aerospace Technologies (Moscow Aviation Institute – MAI) is the leading Russian aerospace engineering university established in 1930. Since then, more than 120 000 design engineers (ME Degree holders) graduated from MAI to became the main national aerospace engineering R&D manpower. Now MAI has 2000 professors and lecturers, 3000 researchers including Ph.D. students, and 15000 master-level students.
Most of the master-level design majors are world-unique.
Degrees awarded by MAI are recognized by the aerospace industries all over the world. Moscow Aviation Institute (State University of Aerospace Technologies) offers instruction and scientific research at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels in modern engineering technologies and the construction and design of various flying vehicles and aerospace systems for the aircraft and aerospace industry.

6. VLADIMIR STATE UNIVERSITY
Vladimir State University is one of the biggest establishments of higher education in the center of Russia. It was founded in 1958. Since 1978 the University has been training foreign students. 7. MOSCOW STATE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY STANKIN
The students successfully completing the Preparatory Course will be given a certificate that will guarantee them admission to the subject of their speciality at Stankin-MSTU without any examination. However, Stankin-MSTU reserves the right to conduct a test of EFL-U students in Russian Language and other subject relevant to their future specialisation.
Moscow Machine Tool Institute (at present Moscow State Technological University “Stankin”) was founded in 1930 for providing machine tool building, the most important branch of industry at that time, with highly qualified specialists in that domain. Machine tools are the only machine which can create the other ones (cars, planes, agricultural and everyday’s equipment etc.), including machine tools themselves. The president of MSTU, corresponding member of RSA - J. M. Solomentsev. Today “Stankin” is not only a place for study, it’s a scientific industrial complex with Technological Design Institute of Informatic of RSA; there’s also a net of scientific, educational and industrial centers, where students can realize their ideas. There’re some strong and authoritative schools in “Stankin”.
