Jeevika 2009
Introduction:
Jeevika is the documentary Film Competition and Festival, which began in 2003, aims at capturing the livelihood challenges faced by the rural and urban poor and bringing it to the attention of the public, media, judiciary, and most importantly, policy makers. It is part of the ‘Law, Liberty and Livelihood Campaign’ (L3C) founded on the principle that the quality of life is intrinsically related to the degree of livelihood and economic freedom. Over the years, Jeevika has been successful in advocating for the cause of numerous small entrepreneurs, self employed, rickshaw pullers, street vendors, sex-workers, child labourers, farmers and forest-dwellers.
Eligibility:
Competition is open to all professional filmmakers and students, who are citizens of any nations provided the documentary focuses on the livelihood of the individuals & communities of the following Asian nations: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand¸Vietnam, People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea and Taiwan.
Prize:
2 lakh INR/4,000 US$, certificates and Advocacy Grants
