Applications are invited for Research Scholar The Indian Institute of Geomagnetism (IIG) is a leading institute of the country actively engaged in basic and applied research in Geomagnetism and allied areas of Atmospheric and Space Physics.

IIG operates the Equatorial Geophysical Research Laboratory, its regional centre at Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu). The institute offers research oriented programmes for the post-graduate students at this centre leading to Ph.D. Degree.

Scholarship: Rs.12000/- per month (consolidated) for first and second years and Rs.14000/- per month in subsequent years. In addition, a book grant of Rs.6000/- per annum is provided to the students registered for Ph.D.

Requirements: M.Sc. in Physics with a minimum of 60% marks. Candidates who are appearing in the final year examination may also apply.

Maximum Age: 28 years

Selection Criteria: Candidates who have cleared either the Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE) or the CSIR-UGC-JRF (NET) examination in Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences or Physical Sciences will be called for the interview.

For others, a separate written examination will be conducted by the centre followed by the interview.
