SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME(AYURVEDA)
Applications in the Prescribed Format are invited upto 20-10-2008 for Senior Research Fellowship Programme(Ayurved) in Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha(CCRAS), New Delhi. The details are as under:
Number of SRF (Ayurveda): 25 (General-13, SC-4, ST-2 and OBC-6)
Qualification:
A Post Graduate Degree in Ayurveda in any discipline from a recognised University or Institution and duly recognised by CCIM.
Age Limit:
35 Years as on 1-1-2009. (Relaxation of 5 Years for SC, ST, PH and Women and 3 Years for OBC)
Emoluments:
For those scholars who are not drawing/getting Stipend from their respective Institutes/Universities:
Rs. 20,000 for 1st Year, Rs. 21,000 for 2nd Year, Rs. 22,000 for 3rd Year.
For those scholars who are drawing/getting Stipend:
Financial support in the form of Research Contingent Grant of Rs. 15,000 Per Year for 2nd and 3rd Years will be provided.
Method of Selection:
The Institute will conduct a Test on 16-11-2008 at Jaipur to shortlist Candidates for this SRF(Ayurveda) Programme for CCRAS. The Test shall be of 200 Marks divided into 2 Papers of 100 Marks and 2 hours of duration each, viz.
Paper-I Ayurveda carrying 100 Questions of Multiple Choice. (100 Marks).
Paper-II Research Methodology, Latest Research in Ayurveda and Medicinal Plants Sector carrying 100 Questions of Multiple Choice.(100 Marks).
The Candidates found eligible will be called for the Test. Further details on the Fellowship Programme, Application Form etc. can be downloaded from the Website of this Institute www.nia.nic.in The filled Application Form along with attested copies of all the relevant documents should reach this Institute by 20-10-2008 along with a Fee of Rs.500 for General and OBC and Rs.300 for SC, ST and PH Candidates in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Director, National Institute of Ayurveda” and payable at Jaipur. The envelop should superscribe Application for SRF(Ayurved).

CENTRAL COUNCIL FOR RESEARCH IN AYURVEDA & SIDDHA, (CCRAS), Deptt. Of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi an apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of research in Ayurveda & Siddha in the Country.
The CCRAS carries out research on scientific lines in Ayurveda and Siddha through a planned research programme in various fields and it has taken up following research programmes (Intramural Research) through its (i) Ten Central (ii) Sixteen Regional and (iii) Twelve Research Centers / Units located in different parts of India.

9. Medico-Ethno-Botanical Survey, Cultivation and tribal/ folk claims documentation.
The CCRAS has also taken up some Projects of National Importance:
1. Feasibility of Introducing Indian System of Medicine (Ayurveda and Siddha) in the National Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Programme at the Primary Health Care (PHC) level: Launching of the pilot project with 17 Ayurvedic and 16 Siddha Medicines: ICMR – CCRAS collaboration.
2. Validation of safety of Ayurvedic Metallic Bhasmas
3. Automization of Panchakarma Instruments.
Definite research strategy and Strengthening of research capabilities are pivotal for successful research operations and the CCRAS always tries to adopt new strategies from time to time. In order to encourage the young & talented scientists to strengthen the Human resource development (HRD) in biomedical research in the fields of Ayurveda & Siddha, the CCRAS has launched fellowship by providing grant-in-aids such as Senior Research Fellowships.
INTRODUCTION TO CCRAS SRF PROGRAMME
Senior Research fellowships provide opportunities to bright young men and women to pursue research and training invariably leading to Ph.D under experienced researchers/investigators of repute in the field of Ayurveda, Siddha and related allied discipline.
CCRAS SRF Examination is the first step in the process of admission to the Research / Ph.D Programme. Test for CCRAS SRF will be conducted at the Head quarters of CCRAS or other center (s) notified by the CCRAS time to time once a year on first Sunday of September of each year. The award of SRF is made on merit basis by holding an entrance examination after issuing a countrywide admission notice. The admission notice is published in leading English Newspapers of India usually during March – June. CCRAS will hold a National level examination on first Sunday of September, 2009 for determining the eligibility of Indian National candidates for the award of Senior Research Fellowships (SRF) or Research Contingent grant through CENTRAL COUNCIL FOR RESEARCH IN AYURVEDA & SIDDHA.
SCOPE OF SRF
• The award of Research Fellowship to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding placement in a medical college / hospital / university / national laboratory / institution of higher learning and research/ bio medical institute etc in India for Ayurveda and Siddha related research projects or PhD programmes.
• They may be placed in different institutes of the Council under various Research projects.
• They will be eligible for the post of SRF for any Extra Mural Research Scheme of Dept. of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
