SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME(AYURVEDA)
Applications in the Prescribed Format are invited upto 20-10-2008 for Senior Research Fellowship Programme(Ayurved) in Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Siddha(CCRAS), New Delhi. The details are as under:

Number of SRF (Ayurveda): 25 (General-13, SC-4, ST-2 and OBC-6)

Qualification:
A Post Graduate Degree in Ayurveda in any discipline from a recognised University or Institution and duly recognised by CCIM.

Age Limit:
35 Years as on 1-1-2009. (Relaxation of 5 Years for SC, ST, PH and Women and 3 Years for OBC)

Emoluments:
For those scholars who are not drawing/getting Stipend from their respective Institutes/Universities:
Rs. 20,000 for 1st Year, Rs. 21,000 for 2nd Year, Rs. 22,000 for 3rd Year.

For those scholars who are drawing/getting Stipend:
Financial support in the form of Research Contingent Grant of Rs. 15,000 Per Year for 2nd and 3rd Years will be provided.
Method of Selection:
The Institute will conduct a Test on 16-11-2008 at Jaipur to shortlist Candidates for this SRF(Ayurveda) Programme for CCRAS. The Test shall be of 200 Marks divided into 2 Papers of 100 Marks and 2 hours of duration each, viz.

Paper-I Ayurveda carrying 100 Questions of Multiple Choice. (100 Marks).
Paper-II Research Methodology, Latest Research in Ayurveda and Medicinal Plants Sector carrying 100 Questions of Multiple Choice.(100 Marks).

CENTRAL COUNCIL FOR RESEARCH IN AYURVEDA & SIDDHA, (CCRAS), Deptt. Of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi an apex body in India for the formulation, coordination and promotion of research in Ayurveda & Siddha in the Country.

1. Feasibility of Introducing Indian System of Medicine (Ayurveda and Siddha) in the National Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Programme at the Primary Health Care (PHC) level: Launching of the pilot project with 17 Ayurvedic and 16 Siddha Medicines: ICMR – CCRAS collaboration.
2. Validation of safety of Ayurvedic Metallic Bhasmas
3. Automization of Panchakarma Instruments.

Definite research strategy and Strengthening of research capabilities are pivotal for successful research operations and the CCRAS always tries to adopt new strategies from time to time. In order to encourage the young & talented scientists to strengthen the Human resource development (HRD) in biomedical research in the fields of Ayurveda & Siddha, the CCRAS has launched fellowship by providing grant-in-aids such as Senior Research Fellowships.
INTRODUCTION TO CCRAS SRF PROGRAMME
Senior Research fellowships provide opportunities to bright young men and women to pursue research and training invariably leading to Ph.D under experienced researchers/investigators of repute in the field of Ayurveda, Siddha and related allied discipline.

CCRAS SRF Examination is the first step in the process of admission to the Research / Ph.D Programme. Test for CCRAS SRF will be conducted at the Head quarters of CCRAS or other center (s) notified by the CCRAS time to time once a year on first Sunday of September of each year. The award of SRF is made on merit basis by holding an entrance examination after issuing a countrywide admission notice. The admission notice is published in leading English Newspapers of India usually during March - June. CCRAS will hold a National level examination on first Sunday of September, 2009 for determining the eligibility of Indian National candidates for the award of Senior Research Fellowships (SRF) or Research Contingent grant through CENTRAL COUNCIL FOR RESEARCH IN AYURVEDA & SIDDHA.

SCOPE OF SRF
• The award of Research Fellowship to the successful eligible candidates will depend on their finding placement in a medical college / hospital / university / national laboratory / institution of higher learning and research/ bio medical institute etc in India for Ayurveda and Siddha related research projects or PhD programmes.
• They may be placed in different institutes of the Council under various Research projects.
• They will be eligible for the post of SRF for any Extra Mural Research Scheme of Dept. of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
􀂙 The candidates selected for the SRF programme of CCRAS would be permitted to enroll themselves for the Ph.D. programme of any University recognised by the UGC/CCIM/MCI/DCI etc.
􀂙 They would be permitted at any University/Institute/Deemed university/Research Institute/Laboratory/Pharmaceutical centers recognized by University and CCRAS.(Please see Annexure-VI for reorganization by CCRAS as centre of excellence for fellowship scheme).
􀂙 The successful candidates would be notified by post, e. mail in the first week of August 2009. The list also would be available on the CCRAS website.
PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING
Before applying, candidates are advised to go through the admission notice published in the advertisement in various Newspapers and the instructions given therein carefully. Fill in the application form according to the instructions given in this prospectus and the admission notice. Incomplete applications will not be considered and no correspondence will be entertained. Application for SRF is required to be submitted on the prescribed form enclosed with this prospectus.
a) The application, complete in all respects accompanied with all the relevant documents should reach the DIRECTOR, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF AYURVEDA, MADHAV VILAS PALACE, AMER ROAD, JAIPUR 302002 on or before the closing date. The applications received after the closing date is not considered and no correspondence will be entertained.
b) Applications on forms other than prescribed for the purpose will not be entertained.
c) The Entrance Test shall be conducted by National Institute of Ayurveda(NIA). Candidates short-listed by NIA five times, the number of seats available for a particular year, will be reported to the Department of AYUSH. A high level panel of experts will be constituted with the approval of Secretary(AYUSH) for conducting the interviews. CCRAS shall take care of the logistics for the interviews.

METHOD OF SELECTION

Scheme of Test
There will be separate papers for different fellowship categories (Professional and Non Professional).

􀂙 For SRF (Medical): 2 papers-100 marks each (Total- 200 marks)
Paper I: Ayurveda / Siddha /Allopathy / Veterinary Science (100 marks)
Paper II: Research Methodology/Latest Research in Ayurveda and Medicinal Plants Sector (100 marks).

􀂙 The duration of test for each paper is of 2 hours.
􀂙 Each question carrying 1 mark for each correct answer.
􀂙 The questions in all the sections would appear in English only.

The qualifying marks will be 60% obtained in all the papers for General and OBC Category and 55% for SC/ST and physically handicapped.
The Interviews will be conducted by the Interview Board constituted by the Department of AYUSH and the appointments will be issued with approval of Joint Secretary, Department of AYUSH.

HOW TO APPLY
Information Bulletin containing the application form and other details will be available at www.nia.nic.in and candidates may apply in the downloaded form together with requisite fee(Rs.500/- for General /OBC and Rs.300/- for SC/ ST/ PH) by demand draft in the name of Director, National Institute of Ayurveda payable at Jaipur.
􀂙 Candidates are advised to preserve photocopy of the Bank draft for further reference.
􀂙 SC/ST/PH/OBC candidates should submit a copy of certificate from the competent authority in Hindi/English along with bank draft. All disputes relating to the conduct of the examination or any matter connected with this advertisement shall be dealt in the jurisdiction of Rajasthan High Court at Jaipur.
For Candidates seeking Fee concession
(a) A SC/ST candidate should submit a copy of the Caste Certificate about being SC/ST (attested by a Gazetted Officer) issued by the prescribed authority of Govt. of India, in English or Hindi. In case the caste/category certificate is in regional language the candidate should enclose an English/Hindi translation of the same duly notarized by a notary with the request for application form. For allowing concessions in this regard CCRAS follows only Central Govt. lists and not State Govt. list. The SC/ST candidates should ensure from the competent authority issuing the caste certificate that their communities are enlisted in the common list of the Govt. of India.
(b) A physically handicapped (PH) person should submit along with his/her application a copy of certificate about being handicapped obtained from a Government Hospital/Medical Board duly attested by the Gazette Officer with the request for application form.
(c) An applicant claiming fee concession (and received by the NIA within the closing date) but without an attested copy of a valid SC/ST/OBC/PH certificate, will not be considered for fee concession.

Application fee paid for a particular examination will neither be adjusted for any subsequent examination nor refundable under any circumstances.

The application form, duly completed along with requisite enclosures, must reach the DIRECTOR, NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF AYURVEDA, MADHAV VILAS PALACE, AMER ROAD, JAIPUR - 302002 by Registered / Speed post on or before 20-10-2008.
