Introduction :
The Vanguard Women in Information Technology Scholarship Program provides merit-based scholarships of up to $10,000 to female students entering their junior or senior year of college during the 2011-12 school year. Applicants must be pursuing studies in computer science, computer engineering, Web design or other IT-related disciplines. To be considered, you must:
* Be a female college student entering your junior or senior year of college in fall 2011.
* Be enrolled full-time in a four-year accredited college or university in the United States for the entire 2011-12 academic year.
* Be pursuing a major in computer science, computer engineering, Web design, or another IT-related discipline.
* Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
* Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States.

Aim : The program’s goal is to remove financial barriers for female students pursuing professions in IT. Recipients will be required to report other awards granted and supply their school’s financial aid award letters. Scholarship checks are sent directly to your home address, made payable to the school of your choice. The scholarship can be used for tuition, fees, books, and supplies.

Eligibility : Applicants to the Vanguard Women in Information Technology Scholarship Program must:
* Be female students who are entering their junior or senior year of college in the fall of 2011.
* Be enrolled full-time* at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
* Be enrolled and pursuing a major in computer science, computer engineering, web design or other IT-related disciplines.
* Have a minimum cumulative 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
* Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
*Full-time study is defined as full-time enrollment for the entire upcoming academic year.
Children of Vanguard employees are not eligible to apply to this program.

Awards : If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award up to $10,000. Up to ten (10) awards will be granted each year. Awards will not exceed the total costs of tuition, fees, books and supplies. Awards are not renewable, however students may reapply to the program each year eligibility requirements are met. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

Application Procedure : Application

Interested students must complete the application and mail it along with a current, complete transcript of grades and a resume to Scholarship Management Services. Additionally, the Recommender Assessment Form and any optional letters of recommendation need to be postmarked no later than November 30. Grade reports are not acceptable. Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which each course was taken. Applicants will receive acknowledgment of receipt of their application. If an acknowledgment card is not received within three weeks, applicants may call Scholarship Management Services to verify that the application has been received.

Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, all questions must be answered as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Vanguard and Scholarship Management Services.

Selection Procedure : Scholarship Management Services selects finalists on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, recommender assessment form, letter of recommendation (optional) and a resume. Selection of recipients is made by the Vanguard Selection Committee. All applicants agree to accept the decision of Vanguard and Scholarship Management Services as final. Applicants will be notified in early May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
