The Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships 2009
Introduction:
Dr Manmonhan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, is a graduate and Honorary Fellow of St John’s College. He is widely acknowledged as the architect of the economic reforms that have helped propel India onto the World Stage. In honour of Dr Singh St John’s College is launching the Dr Manmohan Singh Scholarships. These awards will enable academically outstanding Indian students to come to St. John’s College, University of Cambridge to study for doctoral degrees in subjects like Science & Technology, Economics and Social Sciences. Applications in Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering and Energy Studies (both policy areas and technical areas, especially with practical applicability for India) will be of particular interest.This venture has been backed by major organizations such as the BP Foundation, Rolls-Royce India and the Tata Group. The British Council, a leader in administering scholarship programmes, will manage the application process.
The scholarship covers the amount for the following:
1. Academic Fee
2. International Airfare
3. Monthly Stipend to cover living expenses
4. UK Visa
Eligibility:
An Indian National with a valid Indian Passport, below 35 years of age as of 31 December 2008 and holding a Master’s (postgraduate) degree from a reputed/recognised India university/ institution with a First Class award (UG and PG) in the relevant subj
