Introduction: The Malaviya National Institute of Technology Jaipur (MNIT) offers Ph.D. degree through its various Departments. The award of Ph.D. degree is in recognition of high academic achievements, independent research and application of knowledge to the solution of technical and scientific problems in Science, Technology, Management and Humanities & Social Sciences. Creative and productive inquiry is the basic concept underlying the research work.

Eligibility: One of the following requirements is essential to be fulfilled by a candidate. Additionally he must possess the qualifications in the relevant field. Candidates holding Masters Degree in Engineering / Technology/ Sciences/ Management/ Humanities & Social Sciences or equivalent with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 6.75 on a 10 point scale or equivalent as determined by the Institutes or having minimum 60% marks in aggregate, where marks are awarded. For candidates belonging to SC/ST or physically handicapped category, the minimum requirement of percentage of marks in aggregate is 55% and CGPA is 6.25 on a 10-point scale. The reserve category candidates must submit the required certificate from the competent authority as given in Annexure-1 along with the duly completed application form.
Admission Procedure: The admission to Ph.D. programme for the year 2009-2010 will be carried out on the basis of the fulfillment of requirements by the candidates and availability of the supervisor to supervise the proposed research work. The short-listing of applications for the purpose of admission will be done by the respective department. Awards: The Ph.D. programme consists of two stages. In stage 1, the research scholar will be treated as a student and he/she is to complete the credit requirement. Followed by this, the student has to take a comprehensive and oral examination. In the second stage, the research scholar who has passed the comprehensive examination will formally register as a candidate for Ph.D. degree.

Registration: A system of registration is followed for all the students joining the institute. The selected candidates will have to register personally on the date of registration after depositing the required fees as given in 8. At the time of registration, the candidate is required to fill-up registration Form/Card and get himself/herself registered. After registration, students should report to the concerned Head of the Department and submit the joining report. The proof of joining the institute shall be the registration card and the fee receipt. Assistantship will be granted only after receiving the joining information from the departments and the undertaking as per the institute norms (wherever applicable). Regular classes will start as per the time schedule (Academic Calendar of the Institute) declared by the institute.

Introduction: RGCB prepares individuals who have a deep and genuine interest in discovery science to shape the translation of biotechnology through academic research towards applications for a knowledge economy, business development and science of tomorrow. Previous RGCB PhD’s have all done impressive work and received excellent placements. Guided by an expert faculty and a host of innovative academic programs, the RGCB PhD program is made even richer by its place in Thiruvananthapuram, capital of “Gods own country.

Eligibility: Postgraduation in Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences and medicine graduates. Applicants must have a consistently first class academic track record (no less than 60% aggregates) and a valid research fellowship from UGC, CSIR, ICMR and DBT (Category A only). Candidates with other fellowships are advised to contact the Dean to confirm eligibility. Candidates awaiting final exam results can also apply. However only those candidates with a valid pass certificate will be allowed to appear for the selection interview. Candidates without valid fellowships need not apply. However candidates with MBBS, MD, MTech, MVSc. MPharm and MSc (Agriculture) can apply even though they do not have a research fellowship. if selected, they will be supported by institute fellowships. They will be encouraged to obtain a suitable fellowship after joining.
Admission procedure: Applications are invited twice a year (normally in November and June) and advertised in all national newspapers and on the RGCB website. Vacancies that are available in different laboratories and interdisciplinary programs will be put up on the website.

Selection Procedure: Short-listed students will be invited to RGCB for a selection interview. No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview. Candidates will be ranked at the selection interview on a total mark of 100. Candidates will be evaluated in their subject of specialization, knowledge of research methodology, instrumentation and laboratory calculations, overall knowledge in applications of biotechnology, general research aptitude and ability to comprehend & solve research questions as well as presentation & communication skills.

Introduction: A student can pursue research at FRI University or any of recognized research centers of FRI or ICFRE spread all over the country, leading to an award of Ph.D. degree. The research facilities in the field of forestry and allied subjects at the FRI University are amongst the best in the country. At present over 443 research scholars are registered for Ph.D. at the FRI University. Till now 303 Ph.D. degrees have been awarded.

Eligibility: Hold a master’s degree or its equivalent from any recognized university or Institute.
Have 55% marks or above in Post graduate examination. Have the supervisor/guide from FRI or its research centers and Co-guide may be from outside. A student can apply for his PhD either in March or September in a calendar year.

Admission Procedure: The admission to the Ph.D Programme shall be as per the Ordinance Governing. Eligibility Test for admission in Ph.D. Programme. Candidates for the award of degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Forestry may be registered at the beginning of any term i.e. either from 1st August or from 1st February on basis of the Eligibility list prepared by the FRI University. The eligibility list will be valid for one year. A Candidate may be admitted as an Internal/External Ph.D. Scholar as per the rules of the FRI University. The External Research Scholar shall be required to take study leave for a minimum period of 8 months as minimum residential period from the date of commencement of compulsory courses in the first year of registration. During this period the scholar will be expected to clear the compulsory courses and additional courses if any suggested by the Research Advisory Committee (R.A.C.). · A candidate for the Ph.D. degree in Forestry must apply for registration to the Registrar FRI University or through Nodal Officers of the recognized centers of the FRI University on the prescribed form as given in Appendix-I along with the prescribed fee.The application form shall be accompanied by the documents as may be prescribed in the application form.

Rules: The test will be conducted in all the research centres simultaneously and will have All India Character. The test may be conducted either along with the All India Entrance Test for M Sc courses or separately. Question papers shall be prepared and sent to the research centre well in advance

Introduction: Students with Master degree in basic sciences, e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics will be admitted for Doctoral Programme under the guidance of faculty members of NISER. The students will be required to take 6 courses (or more depending on counseling). Rules: Relaxation in eligibility requirement in terms of minimum CGPA upto 5.5 or 55% marks in aggregate will be given to SC/ST, physically handicapped applicants and those with M.A. English (for admission to Ph.D. English in the Deptt. of Humanities and Social Sciences of IIT Roorkee) as per Institute regulations. Person with Disability (PD) applicants may be permitted relaxation in eligibility requirement of CGPA to 5.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent, or to 55% marks as per regulations. For the SC/ST applicants minimum GATE score requirement will be 50 percentile. Reservation for OBC/SC/ST will be as per Govt. of India directive/Institute rules.
