Palmerston North Campus Elite Sports Bursaries 2010-Undergraduate Students-Massey University-New Zealand
Introduction: Massey University, in partnership with various sporting organisations, is pleased to offer 2nd and 3rd year sport bursaries to people who are studying at Massey University’s Palmerston North Campus and are members of the Massey Academy of Sport. The Massey Academy of Sport focuses on the holistic development of each individual member by providing essential support services that cater to their needs. In addition to a wide range of academic programmes, Massey University offers a range of sport degree programmes as well as one of the most strategic groupings of sport performance and training facilities in New Zealand.
Awards: Successful applicants will be awarded a one-year bursary to the value of $5,000. Up to five bursaries may be awarded each year, up to three for second year and up to two for third year. The number of bursaries in each year will be dependent on the funding made available by Massey University.
Eligibility: The bursary shall be open to candidates who have successfully completed one or two years in the Massey Academy of Sport and also met all criteria and requirements expected of first or second year members of the Academy. Candidates must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents with qualifications from a New Zealand secondary school. Applicants for this bursary must have the backing from a relevant sporting organisation and coach/trainer.
Selection Procedure: Bursaries shall be awarded on the recommendation of a Selection Committee comprising the Chair of the Scholarships Committee (or nominee), the Regional Registrar (or nominee) the Massey Academy of Sport High Performance Coordinator, Manager of Sport and Recreation Services. A fourth member from a relevant Academic Department or from a Sporting Code may be seconded as necessary.
Payment Details: Payment of a bursary will be made in two equal instalments in April and August. Payment in August will be subject to successful completion of semester one papers and successfully meeting the requirements of the Massey Academy of Sport.
Closing Date: Applications close 1 November each year. Candidates who fail to submit their application by the closing date will NOT have their applications considered.
