The University is offering M.L. Degree Course in the following branches under Private Study (Non-Semester) and M.A. Degree Course in Bharathanatyam under Private Study in the Department of Indian Music during the academic year 2008-2009.
M.L. DEGREE COURSE IN THE FOLLOWING BRANCHES UNDER PRIVATE STUDY:
Br.I – International Law & Constitutional Law
Br.II – Business Law
Br.III – Criminal Law
Br.IV – Property Law
Br.V – Intellectual Property Law
Br.VI – Human Rights and Environmental Law
Br.VII – Labour Law and Administrative Law
ELIGIBILITY: A Pass in B.L./L.L.B Degree from a recognized University.
Candidates who have already appeared for the M.L. Degree examination and passed in any paper or papers under the previous regulations is also eligible for the award of M.L. Degree provided
[i] They pass in the remaining papers as per the present regulations,
[ii] Reresearch Methodology and
[iii] Dissertation.
However, such candidates are not eligible for classification.

M.A. DEGREE COURSE IN BHARATHANATYAM UNDER PRIVATE STUDY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF INDIAN MUSIC
ELIGIBILITY CONDITION:
“No student shall be eligible for admission to a Master’s degre programme in any of the faculties unless he/she has successfully completed three years of an undergraduate degree or earned prescribed number of credits for an undergraduate degree, thorugh the examination conducted by a University / autonomous institution or possesses such qualifications as recognized by the concerned University as equivalent to an undergraduate degree”.
A candidate should have completed 30 years of age as on 30th years of age as on 30th September in the year in which the application is submitted.
ELIGIBILITY FOR AWARD OF DEGREE:
A candidate should complete the course within 5 years form the academic year in which he/she registers for the course. Examinations will be conducted once in a year during the month of April to facilitate the foreign candidates to visit India for the examinations. The minimum period of attendance is 30 days in an academic year.
The filled-in application shall be sent directly to Dr.(Mrs.) M. Premeela, Professor and Head. Department of Indian Music, University of Madras, Chennai-600005.
ISSUE OF APPLICATION IN PERSON:
Application can be had in person at the Information Centre, University of Madras, Chennai-600005 on payment of RS.200/- (Rs.100/- for SC/ST) candidates on production of xerox copy of the community certification) by cash.
ISSUE OF APPLICATION POST:
Those who want to obtain application by Post have to send a written requision specifying the name of the programme together with a Demand Draft for a sum of Rs.250/- (Rs.200/- towards cost of Application and Rs.50/- towards postage) drawn in favour of “The Registrar, University of Madras, Chennai-5″.
Application can also be downloaded form the University website at www.unom.ac.in
However, the cost of application for Rs.200/- by means of Demand Draft shall be enclosed, failing which the application will be summarily rejected.
