The strong desire of a philanthropist and educationist, Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, to develop education paved the way for the establishment of Thirumuruga Kirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal Medical, Educational and Charitable Trust at Salem, Tamil Nadu, India. He is the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Vinayaka Missions’ Trust. By his zeal, dedication and untiring effort he made a niche for himself in the field of education in India and abroad. All through his life he has been devoting himself to the cause of education. His bold and strong conviction is “Education is an important instrument for social change”. His main objective is to make education reachable to the masses.
In pursuance of this objective, the University has established various educational institutions in the fields of medicine, dentistry, nursing, allied health sciences engineering, management, computer science applications and basic sciences, thereby contributing to the global needs for knowledge and education.

To offer educational programs of International Standard to prepare students to become competent medical professionals with a holistic approach in a global environment.
About the Programme
Vinayaka Missions University has established its off-shore campus in the premises of Rangsit University, Bangkok, Thailand to offer Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) Program. This program is approved and notified in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India in concurrence with the University Grants Commission (UGC), vide their letter No.F.9-13/2005-U-3 dated October 10, 2006.
Highlights of the Program
MBBS is an undergraduate degree in medicine which enables one to register as a medical practitioner and to pursue post graduate degrees in various fields of medicine.
Duration of study is 4½ years followed by one year of internship.
The program follows the norms of Medical Council of India.
Approved and notified in the Gazette of India by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India in concurrence with the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Indian curriculum.
The course is taught in English as the medium of instruction.
The degree will be awarded by Vinayaka Missions University Offshore Campus, Bangkok, Thailand.
The Indian students graduating in this program will have to undergo a screening test as per the provisions of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and the Screening Test Regulations, 2002 of Medical Council of India, to register as a medical practitioner in India.
Course Information
Total Duration of study is 5½ years (66 months) including 1 year internship.
The entire program is divided into Five Phases as detailed below :
Basic Medical Sciences Program
Offshore Campus, Bangkok, Thailand.
Students have the option to undergo Internship in India after qualifying the Screening Test as per the provisions of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and the Screening Test Regulations, 2002 of Medical Council of India.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for Indian Students:
Education : A pass in 10+2 system or higher secondary or senior secondary or Pre Degree Course or their equivalents having passed with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology /(Botany and Zoology) and English individually and with a minimum of 50 % in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/(Botany and Zoology) taken together.
For Indian students the eligibility norms of MCI will apply for quota/reserved category students.
Age : Candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st December, of the year of admission to the MBBS Course.
Eligibility for NRIs and those from countries other than India

Application Procedure

Admission to the foreign/NRI students is subject to the eligibility and according to the norms set by the University.
Candidates are required to pay Rs. 1500 by a demand draft payable at Chennai, in favour of Vinayaka Missions University towards application processing fee.
STUDENT INFORMATION
International Student Advisors
The Offshore Campus, Bangkok has International Student Advisors who will provide assistance to the students, on a regular basis.
Accommodation
Four blocks of twelve- storey air-conditioned/non-air-conditioned accommodation, well-equipped with furniture, computer with internet, cafeteria and minimart are available to the students. The ground floor of the hostel block has cafeteria, laundry shops, cooperative store and a Japanese Ramen Restaurant. Staff support is also available in the same area. The second floor houses the University’s Book Center and the Cultural Promotion Center. The Student Affairs Office, the dormitory office, the Islam prayer room and the Dharma room are in the second floor of the building.
Establishing your own household
Accommodation with all modern facilities that are available in the campus is optional. The University officials will help the students who prefer to establish their own household to find a suitable accommodation in and around the campus and also will issue a reference letter confirming enrollment.
Food
Hygienically prepared Thai, Indian, Continental and Multi-Cuisine food (vegetarian and non-vegetarian) with excellent taste is made available for students in the campus.
Student Visa
Students will be assisted by the International Office of the University to obtain Student Visa.
Overseas Student-Health Insurance
Maintaining a valid overseas student health cover is mandatory for the Student Visa holder.
Library and Information Center
Large collections of CDs, videos and cassette tapes and more than 200,000 text books are available for students to use at the Information and Library Center during 8.30 am to 10.00 pm from Monday to Friday.
Sports Facilities
Sports facilities include two Football Grounds, Tennis Courts, 4 Basketball Courts, Golf Court, Well-equipped Gymnasium and Swimming Pool. Also, there are cricket and hockey clubs in the campus.
Internet Services
The campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Students can access the internet across the campus, round the clock.
Student Support Services
Support services are provided to the students to make them feel at home. These services include airport pickup, reservation of accommodation, tour of International College Building after arrival, introduction to academic team, orientation, registration and providing necessary information for students.
Refund Policy
The enrolled students, requesting a withdrawal must submit a formal withdrawal form to the Registrar, within the stipulated period.
Partial Refund
A student, having paid the tuition fees, chooses not to join the course and gives written notice at least four weeks before the commencement of the classes, the tuition fees will be refunded after deducting the administrative cost of 20 % from the total amount paid at the time of admission.
A student, having paid the tuition fees, chooses not to join the course and gives written notice less than four weeks before the commencement of the classes, of the tuition fees will be refunded after deducting the administrative cost of 50% from the total amount paid at the time of admission.
A student, having paid the tuition fees but withdraws after the commencement of the classes, the fees paid will not be refunded.
